Hello, and Happy Almost Weekend! I am wearing an outfit today that is certainly not my nicest. The pictures are not as numerous, and it is nothing fancy that I am wearing. I am wearing a boho outfit that is sentimental though, being almost almost exact replica of what I wore 40 years ago!
I have distinct memories of wide legs jeans and a print tunic almost identical to this one from the 70s.
My Paige denim jeans are not true bell bottoms like in that era, but the H&M tunic most certainly could have hailed from those happy boho days.. Even my suede platforms are eerily similar. I have many leather satchels that could be from this era, but I took my Harrods patent leather one that day, as I visited my dad.
Unfortunately, my posture in this photo also recalls that era. Since then I have learned to straighten up and fly right! I was 12 in 1970, and I loved wearing "hippie" type fashion: bell bottom jeans, platform shoes, leather bracelets, peace sign necklaces, and a lot of turquoise jewelry. I have since ditched the turquoise for gemmier gems, but I will always remember those free spirited clothes, even though they did not fully reflect the times. Living in the seventies was much more complex, especially for a young girl coming of age. Feminism was a word I understood and a notion that was developing rather sideways even from the start..but that is a whole other post...
I would have worn a bandana tied loosely in my hair, rather than this fedora, but otherwise, outfit wise, I could be walking in my own footsteps from four decades back! It is so fun to follow fashion, the way it ebbs and flows...just like life, as it evolves and moves alongside you, and you hardly realize you are there... Now that is the seventies!
For those of you who have been following for a while, you will have noticed that I wear and enjoy a wide array of clothing styles. This was fun to wear and did bring a smile to my face as I recalled that decade! Happy weekend. Peace!
