Happy mid-week my loves! A long-awaited weekend will soon be here. Yesterday, I went to dinner with my husband and daughter, and for this occasion , which was just a simple get together, I wore a silk maxi dress. The summery day was glorious. I love the way silk takes color. There is really no other fabric that will absorb the dye as well, giving the color true depth and saturation, and then allowing for movement in the weave. This is especially true of silk charmuese, as this is. The dress is by Alice and Trixie and similar ones can be found at NeimanMarcus.com. But you know me..I thrifted this last summer! In the above photo you can see my new clutch from Bottica.com. It is one of the clutches I featured on my "statement clutch" post. It is currently sold out, but you can contact the designer through the website to see if more will be made. It has gold handles in the shape of branches and has an organic feel to it. I love it. I wore a gold bracelet from STA and a vintage Versace bracelet. Anyway, you can see it was a bit windy yesterday: Another pictures shows both my awkward gait and how the dress moves. ( better than the wearer!)
I do love the long length of a maxi dress, it has an almost lingerie feel but can be worn with flat sandals easily, so can be dressed down. This is simple to style, and not much is needed as there is a beaded center. I did wear a simple chandelier necklace on a silk cord that I made years ago. My raffia and leather stiletto sandals are more comfortable than they look, too! Still, it is nice to sit!
I am glad this trend is back, but honestly for me, it never left. I have always felt comfortable in a maxi dress. I also love maxi skirts that graze the ankle. What do you think ladies? The maxi dress: Yay, or Nay?
