I was glad to see Louis Vuitton make the slip dress such a powerful looking "newcomer" in the 2013 collection. Truly, the slip dress silhouette is a staple that never goes out of fashion. There is nothing more appealing sometimes, than the simplest of dresses, especially in a sea of heavily adorned dresses. ( which I love as well: my love of bling and hand embellishments has been well established on this little blog of mine.)
But sometimes simple is best, and that is how I thought I might start the New Year! My hair is down, and I need no adornment on the bodice, as there is lovely scalloping on the sleeve and neckline. Another full view: ( Sorry, the photo is grainy, hubby was working with some low light inside.)
I look so tall in the first photo! I am wearing 5 inches of heels, and my hubby shot the photo at a slight angle up. Hurrah! The second photo has me at a more natural angle. My Black slip dress is by maria BIANCA NERO. It was thrifted on Long Island for $20.00 and the proceeds went to a shelter for battered women. Another good way to start the year. My clutch, resplendent in pearls and resin "gems" was also a thrift store find that supports a church on Long Island. Cost of said clutch: Five little dollars, I know, I know, I am a lucky shopper!
Moving about the house looking for good light, we had some success in front of the armoire. This photo has the best resolution.
By the window, I was hoping for the best light. And it was there, lighting up the trees behind me. OH well! The window frames me well, so I will take that, thanks hubby!
This black dress is beaded and hand crocheted, but delicate and subtle. I added two bracelets that are old, but my wrists are so tiny they look like cuffs, and I like that look, so I was pleased. You can see the details of the slip dress here, fairly well.
Here is a close up of the bracelets and "gemmy" bag.
The bracelets look like Versace's Medusa collection, or maybe just a lion's head. It is hard to tell, they are older, and were purchased in Bridgehampton at an antique store. The patina is still bright, after all of these years, so whose ever they are, they are made well. I think I will choose the lion's head motif, as the Tale of Medusa is dark, and the lion's head seems like a good symbol to start the New Year! I am a Leo after all!
