Happy Mid week, we are almost there! Today there was some sunshine so I ventured outside in my favorite black 3/4 sleeve coat. It was warm enough to wear this wool coat with two light layers underneath, and a cashmere scarf: No puffy coat needed!
This is a coat I wear often, unless it is super cold, then I wear my down coat. I love a 3/4 sleeve coat. I think I got used to them when I lived in suburbia for 20 years and drove everywhere. I hated having to push up my sleeves. I also love they way the look, giving a vintage and nostalgic nod to the era in which I was born. What era was that you say?? I will only say that there were only 3 TV stations then, and all programming was in black and white only. Bummer, right!
My knitted cashmere scarf is soft around my neck. The blanket scarf is not my favorite, in terms of wearing. I like the way it looks, but it is bulky and can get untied, leaving one to look a bit like a bed covering on an L.L. Bean catalog.
Here is a closer at my 3/4 sleeve coat, teamed with an older, but still classic Louis Vuitton bag.
To be consistent. I am also wearing Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses that also are many years old. Here are a couple of detail shots where you can see the bag, the coat lining, my costume bracelet, and my two rings.
I don't mind wearing a down coat really, it is just that I prefer the polish and silhouette of a well cut cloth coat. If I am still cold, a faux fur hat can do the trick. I look a bit silly in hats, and perhaps this one would be my silliest one, BEING MADE FOR A 3 YEAR OLD TODDLER, but it is so warm, and fits well. So here goes:
If you think that looks silly you should see me in a hat for adults, they come down to my chin! So this is how one New Yorker layers for the cold. I know all black is boring, so I use brighter scarves as well, and when I walk the leo pattern does show a bit. I also prefer keeping my hands in my pockets to wearing gloves, unless it is very cold. How do you layer for the cold, or are you a lucky one, basking on a beach somewhere laughing at the concept of woolens and gloves? If you are, Cheers!
