Hello and Happy Weekend ! Sending hugs to everyone taking the time to be here. I am wearing a truly eclectic style today. It epitomizes my style aesthetic, the way my outfits come together , almost of their own accord.
My abundant closet(s) allow me to put together an outfit from a roiling hot mess of visual, creative, and practical reasons. The word pastiche is an apt and concise word for this outfit. An ombre stripe, and textural knitted scarf, a dash of folkloric print, the architectural slope of the of my indigo jeans, and the pop of fern green from my sneakers; they all float together like ribbons of a cloud . I am comfortable in this: my layers will keep me warm, as well as suit my mood.
It's a troubled world around me, yet it is filled with beauty. How do we make sense of a word that is increasingly militant, where planes fall maliciously out of the skies; yet where human kindness is abundant, and beauty is bountiful and omnipresent.?
We create our own pastiche, a patchwork of elements from our realities, that we subjectively tailor so we can march forward in this world with a smile on our faces and some boldness in our strides. Even as we are aware of some dim realities, we can balance what is good in the world, and hope it is enough.
It is funny, but I wore this bag backwards by mistake. The side of the bag not revealed was a patchwork that would have neatly tied all of the elements of this outfit together.
Perhaps my outfit was fine as it was? Maybe the piece that would have tied all of the loose bits into a more cohesive picture was just not needed. Perhaps it would have complicated a simple picture. Yes, pastiche will be what it will be. I will learn from my omission. Or was it really?
This is a style blog, but real life will sometimes intrude rather rudely. I can be vigilant and push it out with more force, but maybe it needs to air. Life, nature, progress, if you will, is an organic process.
