Today, I am featuring a hippie chic look, with some stones and jewels for for a bit of bling. If I were to be more authentic to the decade, my jewerly would be turquoise and silver. Oh well, my peasant blouse is turquoise.
One of the most popular trends this season focuses on the seventies. Call it Hippie chic, Boho, seventies style; each name is apropos. I did update this look a bit, with a designer blouse, and contemporary jewelry. I wore this look 40 years ago, besides the jewelry, the only difference would be that my flares would have been fringed at the end, and that my blouse would not carry a designer label. My silk blouse is beautifully embroidered.
The creator is NAEEM KAHN, an Indian-Amercian designer who is based in New York. His label was launched in 2003 and has been worn by many celebrities such as Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, Diana Kruger, Eva Longoria, and First Lady Michelle Obama. I have been captivated by his style and rich details of embroidery, lace and handwork for a while now. His clothes are expensive. The closest thing I could find of his currently, that is similar to what I am wearing is here. It costs, on the website, a few dollars shy of three thousand dollars! I was thrilled my blouse, quite similar, and by the same designer, was at Encore, on Madison Avenue for $63.00! The price difference could buy me a car! OK, not a very nice one, but you get my point!
The necklace is older, and is by Temple St. Clair. I found it at Off-Saks years ago! I guess this hippie chicky knows how to shop! That is a thing all those decades can teach you! :) Here is another look at the outfit:
My satin bag is handmade, and is adorned with polished semi-precious stones ( agate, amethyst, tigerseye, and white chalcedony) I thrifted it if Long Island, for $8.00! I love that the stones are tumbled, it gives the bag a more causal look. My sandals are by EricMichael and were purchased on Zulily.com. They are hand made in Spain, and has some love leather scalloping at the edge of the straw espadrille portion. Again, these were a bargain, and are quite comfortable! If you do not know of this flash sale site, check it out!
More photos of me, being Hippie chic, or trying too. Can I pull this off at my age? I hope so, I am having fun!
So how about you my lovelies? Are you sporting some hippie chic love? Peace!
