Happy Tuesday! I hope the the sun is out, and that the air is clear and fine. Today I am wearing a layered look that features the denim on denim trend. I did amp up the look, because it is Spring, I am happy, and well; I am who I am!
This is a look that I have worn many times, well before the denim and denim trend was such a thing. In point of fact, I remember wearing this combo more than 30 years ago with a LV bucket bag; now how is that for consistent- and prescient- style! I wore black skinnies, and a blue washed denim jacket , a traditional one, not the fitted one here, and my first designer bag!
Today the denim on denim trends gets dressier with a python minaudière, with rose quartz gems for the clasp. This treasure came from Michael's Consignment Shop, and cost about 65.00 USD. ( a bargain!!) I looked to find something comparable, and here is one great option, but any lovely little bag came step in. Think a small clutch or any special bag that you have- but do not add something too sparkly! Texture can work well here!
My fitted blazer is old, but I love the way it fits. Here is one that is similar.
I loved adding these touches of luxe to this denim on denim look. One is the little python bag that stole my heart, ( and did not do much damage to my wallet! :) , and the other is the lace cami by Vera Wang in lace and lined in silk, also purchased at Michaels! Any lace cami, or sequined cami or tee will do, just make sure that the combo of cami and bag does not get to be too much! I like this, or this, or this. Also make sure the cami is not too sheer!
Here is a close up photo.
And another look at the outfit.
To add some sparkle I wore these great vintage earrings. I wanted no additional details on my neckline, but loved these "gems" on my ears. I love the retro look of these glamorous earring, they are bold and unusual. I found these at a great hair salon on my block that carries amazing vintage jewelry too. it is called Ayervais, and is a stone's throw from Bloomingdales.
Here is close up of the earrings!
I love the denim on denim trend, if there is something added to it to make it stand out. I think of wearing a lot of denim is a good canvas for a couple of your special, smaller pieces, like a textured bag, or a great piece of jewelry. Are you aware of the denim on denim trend? It is a somewhat silly "trend" as the notion of combining our favorite pair of jeans with a denim jacket does not seem the definition of novelty! But there it is, a "trend" that you already own and are wearing I bet!
I will say that a great pair of denim culottes with a denim vest could be a great look. Or cut offs and a denim hat for the beach .. so many iterations, so little time. What are your thoughts on this?
Have a wonderful week lovelies!
