I wore this open knit sweater, and older one by Old Navy, to layer over my cami or tee 3 out of the 4 days I was away in East Hampton. When I was not wearing it, I had it tied at my waist, in case I needed it. You have seen the James Perse olive pants in an earlier post, purchased at Encore on Madison Avenue. They were brand new! My Burberry coat, in soft blue, was thrifted at a shop in the Hamptons that helps battered women. It feels great to wear nice clothing, and even better when most of those dollars got to support a cause you care about.
I hope you get a kick out of this shot! Wearing the same open knit sweater, Mark Cross Grace bag, and coat, I am feeling my inner child:
Here is a shot of the Mark Cross Grace bag, and the coat. It has an artistic quality, I think anyway.
I loved this bag at first sight. I adore handbags with structure, a la Hermes, and good luggage-type hardware. I bought it 3 years back, and now I see, just now as I search for link, that the same bag is at Farfetch, my favorite seller of the most coveted brands, and expertly curated apparel must haves, (or lust musts?) to be a bit more fair. It is also at Barney's. I am glad I bought it for $200, and not the $1,900, to $2,400 that it commands today. (new, of course, mine was gently used.)
Mark Cross was founded in 1845, endured some changes, and then resurrected in 2011 to produce their bags in the same celebrated factories as the originals. This bag is called the Grace Box bag, and was originally made for Grace Kelly's role in Rear Window. It is a fabulous bag, and is highly sought after in colors! Do check out my link. If I find it on sale somewhere I will share in on Instagram! Barney's has it only in Black and Camel (2,125) but Farfetch has it in blue and pink. Sizes vary. The color blocked version is gorgeous!. Nordstom has it in python for, gulp, $4,000. If you love Hermes, you just might love this bag! Also, for Chanel devotees, this bag is available quilted at Net-A-Porter in red! Gorj!
While in the Hamptons I did some more shopping at around again in Sag Harbor. I found and bought a great Suede bucket bag, adorned in fringe and two large tassels! I tried on a hat that was too big. Funny shot of me in the shop:
In the funny fluorescent light I look a bit like a mannequin. Maybe a mannequin for AARP! :( I am sorry I do not know the brand of the bag, it is there, and I am here, but I will share that when I wear it next. ( it was new!)
I checked Old Navy to see if they had anything like this sweater ( for both the blog and for me, to get another one) Sadly, they do not. Alternatives are Ann Taylor, and Farfetch. I prefer the one from Farfetch.
Here is a collage of photos from last weekend, and a few days prior to that.
And I will close with a shot I took out the window, coming back to the city, after my lovely long weekend!
Have a great week! For more about the Mark Cross Grace bag read the Purseblog. Their feature has a fabulous slideshow and also gives a sneak peek of the 2015 Grace Box bag in textured Gold Plate. This will get you through to Hump Day- Promise!
