Greetings from the East End, and Happy Weekend! This week was full of surprises. I am featuring a nautical dress (nautical for summer- groundbreaking- yes, I know) from a designer that I have never heard of, Joseph Ribkoff. True to theme, I am wearing my nautical dress on a motor boat.
I love being out of the water ( when I am armed and pre-dosed with Dramamine!) Sag Harbor is a wonderful place to sail, as the bay is calm and the scenery is lovely. The following photo is of the bay, taken across the street.
I will say that this is NOT my boat! I did have a similar one from Strongs Marine. This is also the company that had this boat in the water that is for sale. Since I once had the pleasure of dealing with them, I can vouch for their integrity as boat sellers. The also rent boats. I was planning on getting photos from the wharf with the water behind me, but then I recognized this company and next thing you know...
A few minutes later I was remembering the old days.
So this was a fun slice of the afternoon. Who knew that the nautical dress I wore, would end up on a motor boat! But that is not the best thing about this day. An hour before hubby and I strolled into the harbor for photos ( and dinner afterwards!) I was poolside. I swear, I saw this! A rainbow !
Does in get better? That depends on you. I found this dress by JosephRibkoff for $40., last year at STA in Manhattan. I loved it classic lines and it was in perfect condition. It is roomy, but I liked the way it fit, skimming my body; not tight, and perfect to relax in. So today, to prepare for this post I researched this label and found that I love this designer. Here is a where you can see the best selection of these well made and beautifully tuned out pieces.
1 ere avenue boutiques have been around since 1985, and they carry the best selection of Josesph Ribkoff available . All of their apparel is designed, sewn, and shipped from Dorval, Quebec, Canada. Their designs are quite contemporary, and there prices are happily midrange for clothes of this quality. A dress like the one I bought, lucky me, would retail for just under $300. There are currently having a 40% sale, so check them out. The also offer free worldwide shipping! I am so glad to say that as I have so many international readers! I love finding new places to shop, where I can buy something well made, and will likely find no one else wearing it, as they are from Canada.
Here is a screen shot of the link. I WANT you to find this site! And no, I am not being paid or compensated in any way. I am just passing along the joy of discovery.
I also found two other pieces you must see if looking for a nautical dress. One is the Hello Sailor dress by an etsy seller. This is custom made and to die for! The other is super cute, the Coach Tour dress from Modcloth. Like many bloggers and fashionistas I am mad about Modcloth!
I hope your weekend is off to a great start! As luck would have it I found myself on a sunset cruise for my sister's birthday a few days back. I did not wear a nautical dress! I wore layers ( cashmere striped cardi, white tee, distressed capris, square scarf, and a leather jacket!) and was glad I did. Those photos will be posted soon on Instagram. Enjoy!
These weekends are the ones to savor.
