Hello! Sorry for my absence. I was In Detroit, Michigan visiting family, and was super impressed about the Detroit revitalization. First some shots of my simple, casual outfit. It was sunny and warm that day, and I was lightly layered to tour the city I had not seen in so long, I would not have recognized it.
My sister and I stayed at the Westin Southfield, above, It was lovely.
We enjoyed seeing the Eastern Market, it is the largest historic public market district in the U.S., and has become a catalyst for development in greater Detroit neighborhood. It is now surrounded by internationally acclaimed art galleries, shops and performance spaces.
Some of the places we saw by car, reminded me of Manhattan many years ago; when the building up, up and "higher than thou" was not such a thing. There were lively sections of chic restaurants and shops. I know Detroit is still something of a patchwork, like any great city, but the change I see going on is quite dramatic . More shots of the market and areas around it. Revitalized Detroit is pretty awesome ! My adorable niece had a party that will be remembered for years! Sweet Sixteen is a happy time! I was so happy to celebrate in the place where my dad was born, now a revitalized Detroit. Yes, still much work to do, but great progress. Wishing you, as always, Splendid Times! xx, Elle
