I have recently moved, so choosing a dress was a way to simplify getting dressed. I also had dinner plans so I felt this classic sheath would suit both occasions. The print is lively and matches my energy level, now that my unpacking has been done. ( Don't ask about yesterday, or the days before. Lets just leave it at yoga pants, three days running...)
This classic sheath gets its liveliness from the vibrant abstract print and the two small rows of fringe. I added a wide perforated belt in black, and my studded pumps, to give this sweetie a bit of edge.
I am carrying a classic "Kelly" style bag, handmade in France by Lederer on Madison Avenue in black Lizard skin. I bought this on ebay years ago, for the tiniest fraction of what it is selling for now. I love the structured lady like bag, I guess it is my thing.. Although, come to think of it, I love all of my bags, clutches and totes, alike. ANYWAY... Back to my classic sheath in the fun, painterly print.
You can see there are alot of cars on the street. Everyone is out on this perfect afternoon. Here is a closer look, I tried to capture the true colors of this dress by Yves Saint Laurent, a master of the the classic sheath and gown.
Now to all of you well informed fashionistas: I am sure you noticed that I referred to the designer of this classic sheath as Yves Saint Laurent, and not Saint Laurent. That dates this dress to 2012 or before. ( I think, please correct me, if i am off a bit) before the "Yves" was dropped. Happily I did get this at my favorite resale shop, STA on Broadway, on the upper west side of NYC. I fell in love and did not care whose name was on the label, and it fit me perfectly!
Yes, Haute Sheath, with or without the Yves. STA, my wallet thanks you! Mother Nature, my mood thanks you!
