Life is complicated. Life is very complicated in a large family. Life is further complicated living in New York. Things can be overwhelming with half-baked facts flying in your ears about current events. My wardrobe is large, gratefully, but sometimes what to wear can be complicated. Yesterday, I chose simple.
I chose the simplest outfit I own. Jeans, white shirt, necklace, heels. This felt nice a nice contrast to the pattern mixed, jangly outfits I often choose. And still I don't think it reads simple. The paneled denim does added some detail, as does the mixed textures on the bag, with calf-hair, lizard, and gold. My necklace is one I made years ago, and it is fairly simple, as a single strand , but mixes diamond studded roundels with faceted sapphire beads, pearls, and granulated gold. My white shirt, and simple heel is quiet, though. I love having these basic, key pieces in my wardrobe
I stood outside on the rooftop garden and enjoyed some lingering sunshine. I wish there had been more of it, my photos would have better resolution. Oh well, we can not control Mother Nature.
I got my red-burgundy bag from Ebay-Italy about 10 years ago, when I was on a "kelly" buying spree. I ended up with a few nice lady-like bags that I treasure. This one was not too expensive, for whatever reason, about 100 USD, and I love the deep black cherry color. The denim is a collaboration between Marni and Current Elliot. I am fond of black and blue together, and these fit me perfectly. I got them recently at a consignment store for $32.00! Can I shop or what?
The black heels are Vince Camuto and were also from a consignment store. This was from STA on Broadway. I am finding that many of the things I buy recently are unworn, with tags still on. I wonder if things were bought from flash sales with no return policy, or simply forgotten in a closet. Either way, it is certainly good for me.
Here are some photos of the necklace I made. It is a simple process of stringing! I am careful with getting the finished length I like, and that does require some basic math. I have another longer necklace that goes with it. Maybe I will wear them together soon, when things calm down and I am ready, again, for my "pile it on" style.
The white shirt is from Anne Fontaine. I have had it for over 10 years, and it is still like new! A great investment as it turns out.
I hope you are well and that your life is calm and happy. As always, thanks for reading !
