I am a fan, as you know of neoprene. I discussed why in an earlier post, and have also discovered that it travels well. No wrinkles at all. I actually was reminded of this by Christine at Madame-Ostrich.com, a blog who insightful, well written and sometime snarky approach to fashion is a must read. I had this photo taken outside hoping for optimal light. Here is another shot, taken in black and white, which highlights the pattern, almost as bewitching as the color story.
I was looking for something special to wear for my cousin's wedding, and the series of dinners and picnics that would precede and follow. Having decided to wear a neoprene dress , I went to Clover Canyon's website, found "my" dress, and then "shopped it". I found it on Ebay, new with tags, and was delighted with the savings. It is now sold out everywhere, sadly, no I can not provide any links. I wore very tall platform shoes, and wow what a difference this made! I was almost eye to eye with my husband!
Here is another photo in the hotel. I am sorry that the background is not optimal. The carpet clashes with the dress, and my hair was reading red that week. But the lighting was correct, so here are some additional shots. The pattern of the Clover Canyon Maxi is easy to see here!
I love that the pattern of this Clover Canyon Maxi is so bold. It is abstract and yet, geometric, too. It is a fresh and lively print that just spoke to me. I loved the option for a maxi: since I loved this pattern, why not wear more of it, and the longer length was good for a cool evening! Some photos taken by the staircase ( thank you lovely concierge!) had a pretty background, but less optimal light, The resolution did suffer a bit, but I am adding them because every angle shows a slightly different pattern, and you can also see my clutch and sweater a bit better here, too.
I had my hair put up in the hotel's salon, and the hair stylist was great. I approached him with the question "Hello, what can you do with my hair in 10 minutes?" and he graciously dashed to work. This is the very first time I was properly identified as New Yorker! ( everyone else pegs me as European..mostly because I am so polite and friendly; here I am a typical New Yorker in a hurry)
I had a wonderful time with family. I had a fabulous time in LA and Santa Monica, and Glenda, a good blogging friend who has a fabulous, well written blog, ( So What to Twenty!) that feels so genuine and smart, said to me " that I have really fallen for Cali"..and it is true. I love my coast, but OH! California!
If you have a Clover Canyon Maxi on your wish list, here is their website. They also have many fetching dresses on sale! So I encourage you to check it out, and treat your eyes to some vivid reds, pinks and yellows, and some of the best patterns this season!
I will leave you with the view from the wonderful place we enjoyed so much - Yamashiro Hollywood, in Hollywood Hills :
Have a warm week. Find color where you may!
