March In Manhattan has proven to be stubbornly white. What's a gal to do? I wore a white pleather jacket with a rich tweed skirt, and high heels. My perforated moto jacket will not keep me warm, but the sun is out today, so I am HAPPY!
My white jacket was hard to see, so I added a sepia tone to the back-round in some shots. The perforated moto jacket was especially hard to see, so I will provide close-ups. I am wearing a small and precious bag, messenger style. My message is: The weather will nor deter me, I shall dress up!
I am glad I also had a faux fur scarf with me. This stripe scarf, from H&M, has been handy this winter! Have layers, will travel ! I like that the scarf does not hide the zipper detail of the perforated moto jacket, at least not in all of the shots.
I was so lucky to find this Chanel skirt at Encore on Madison Avenue. I had it tailored to fit me, and I love the tweed, with flashes of gold metallic, in the stripe pattern. It also has ribbons of the fabric that are loose from the skirt and a bit longer. This detail look great when I am walking, and is the kind of detail that Chanel is known for. Like all good clothing, the closer you look at it, the better it looks.
My perforated moto jacket is from kcparker, a very good children's maker, with adult style details. I bought this at Hartstrings on the Upper east side. A size medium fits me well, but a larger size can fit someone who is a size 2 or 4. So if you are petite, this may be a good option. I saw similar jackets after I bought this one, that were way, tres, more expensive! It is sold out where I bought it, but is available at Saks.
My little bag with the enameled closure and tassels, is by Judith Leiber, and was a gift from a dear friend. My ring is a rare lavender jade, set with Burmese rubies and diamonds in platinum, and is a good example of jewelry from the Art Deco era. I got it on Ebay, believe it or not, and I should devote a whole post on how to buy really good jewelry, safely, on Ebay. For now, I will just say this: know you jewelry; read , and read some more, then buy from a trusted seller with a return policy. I love it, and my daughter does, too, and one day it will be hers. Now that makes me enormously happy!
Here are some photos of the details, as promised. The pumps are Vince Camuto, you have seen then ad nauseam, purchased at STA last year, in unworn condition. They add inches to my height! :) I hope you can see the details of the perforated moto jacket better below.
I do hope you can see the fabric of the Chanel skirt better here, as well at the H&M scarf, and my ring. Details do matter, and in person, these sort of details add so much richness to the outfit. I do my best capture this, but the camera and the busy street is a challenge!
I love the detail of perforation on any leather or pleather product. It adds texture, and can be cooler to wear. Have you seen a perforated moto jacket that entices you? I hope you will inspired to look for one- this detail really updates the look. I also love it in the unexpected color of white or ivory. Which brings us back to the snow. More coming tonight!
Stay warm Lovelies! Thanks to Aracely Garcias for hair and make -up, and style assistance , and to Erika Arias for photos!
