Made of silk and fine worsted wool, this dress spans seasons. Its design is rather classic too, although the A-line silhouette pops in and out of fashion so often, it never really disappears. It can be a hard shape to wear, but this dress is so finely crafted that it stays in its crisp A-line shape but feels pliable and fluid, too. I love when a dress look one way, yet feels another. I got this at Michael's Consignment Shop in pristine condition, but it did need a nip and tuck- as do I.. Here I am sitting. Ah! :)
What distinguishes this A-Line striped dress from others is the placement stripe, or the paneled inset of stripes. I think this makes this dress more interesting and easier to wear. An entire dress of this stripe could be a bit much! It left me a lot of solid ground where I could add a necklace and the necklace could become a focal point. This necklace is one I made, and one you have seen. Made of a wide variety of rare semi-precious and precious stones, with some diamonds and some swavoraski crystals, too, it is shiny but not too precious with the silver wire I chose over gold.
My three stone ring came from Encore on Madison Avenue. I love the modern look and I got it greatly discounted! It was fun to add this to my more classic emerald ring. My nail polish was in a muted lavender from MAC, the color is called COOL RESERVE. Love it!
Here is a closer look of the placement stripe. I love the grass green and white on the chocolate ground. I also love that the base of the dress is navy, lending infinite styling opportunities! It Is like spring has been added to the classic navy A-line dress. In fact, this is what this day felt like; a bit of spring in an overall not-quite-spring week. Spring still feels a bit like a concept, a tentative, ALMOST thing. I will believe it when the skies are sunny and stay that way for longer than, say, 7 hours!
I found the great brown bag in ostrich embossed leather from STA on Madison Avenue. Since the stripe inset has brown this looked good together, I think. Even though this bag has a lovely gold "H" it is not Hermes, it was made in Italy, by Courage b. Costing me about $ 90. USD, I thing I bagged a bargain. I loved the rolled handles, and perfect size.
Okay, so today in the post I think I have established 3 things: one is I sure do know where to shop, two -is that I picked a good day for photographs, as this Spring is Here! but NOT really!.. thing is really getting my goat, and the third thing is that I should never, as a pallid beige person, ever be photographed against a driftwood beige wood background.:)
Happy Friday Friends!
